privacy policy

At SALT+TONGUE, words are what we offer, but trust is what we keep. This is the fine print, written without fine tricks — a simple telling of what we gather, what we guard, and what we never do with what’s yours.

Effective Date: September 15, 2025
Version: 1.0 (California/US)

What We Collect

  • What you hand us openly: name, email, mailing address, payment details — when you subscribe, sign up, or purchase.

  • What follows quietly: cookies, IP address, browser type, and general usage data — the faint footprints every website collects.

Cookies and Quiet Traces

This site may use cookies or similar tools for basic analytics (through Squarespace or other services).
We do not use cookies for advertising or behavioral tracking.
You can always manage or disable cookies in your browser.

How We Use It

  • To send newsletters, updates, and offerings you asked for.

  • To improve this site’s performance and your experience.

  • To process purchases safely.

  • What we don’t do: sell, rent, or trade your trust.

We collect the least we need to do what you asked, and we do not widen that purpose without telling you.

Third-Party Hands

This house leans on others to stay standing:

  • Squarespace (hosting)

  • Substack / Apple Mail (newsletter)

  • Stripe / PayPal (payments)

Each has its own walls of policy. We choose carefully, but we encourage you to read their words too.

Security & Limits

We lock what you share with us, using reasonable safeguards: encryption in transit, limited access, least-privilege practices. Still, no lock is perfect. By being here, you understand that no system is unbreakable.

If a security incident affects your data, we will notify you when required and explain what happened, what we are doing, and how you can protect yourself.

Your Say

  • Unsubscribe anytime — every letter we send carries that door.

  • Ask for correction or deletion of your information.

  • Manage cookies as you wish.

  • If you are in the EU or UK: you also have the right to access, restrict, or request portability of your data.

  • If you are in California: you have rights under CCPA/CPRA to know, access, correct, delete, and opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell or share your information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise these rights, email contact@saltandtongue.com with “CCPA Request” in the subject.

Data Retention

  • Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe, then archived for up to 24 months to honor suppression.

  • Transaction records: up to 7 years for tax and audit purposes.

  • Backups: rotate on a 30–90 day cycle.

We keep data only as long as necessary for the purpose collected or as required by law.

Children’s Privacy

This space is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect from them.

Accessibility

If you need this policy in another format or have accessibility requests, write contact@saltandtongue.com.

Changes

If we shift or amend this policy, we will post the changes clearly.

Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is guided by the laws of the United States and the State of California.
